Jan 6, 2014 :: Freeriding at the highest level, a demo area where you can test the latest equipment and products, plus workshops and awesome parties! You can experience all of this and much more at the Kitzbuehel Freeride Weeks under the direction of locally born Freeride pro Matthias Haunholder.
Organiser Matthias Haunholder knows exactly what powder fans expect: ” Whether demanding big mountain or pillow lines, in Kitzbuehel the freerider feels at home in all conditions. My favourite run is having an awesome time going on the snow cat piste machine up to the Bichlalm backcountry and riding the fresh powder lines down.”
The backcountry in Kitzbuehel is easily accessible and it extends across an incredible area of over 200 km2. To put this into perspective, this is three times the size of Manhattan.
From a great freeride demo area to movie nights, lectures with professionals, film and photo workshops, as well as tempting accommodation and offer packages – the Kitzbuehel Freeride Weeks are a must for all snowboard and freeride enthusiasts!

Freeriders can book their journey directly via a ski school (Rote Teufel, Element 3, Skischule Reith, Ski-Alpin, Snowsports and Alpin Experts) or guarantee themselves one of the coveted seats with a quick phone call to Bergbahn Kitzbühel in the Hornbahn cable car office on 05356/1411. The last booking option is intended for those making last-minute plans. With a little luck you might be able to secure one of the last free places if you make it to Oberaigen car park, the meeting place for ski tourers, but that’s on a first come – first served basis.
You buy your ticket from the driver.
Please note: no car parking available for tourers at Gasthof Oberaigen and Sonnbergstüberl. Tourers can only park at Bichlalm valley station and just below Oberaigen farmstead! Please look for the signpost “Tourenparkplatz Bichlalm”.
